Veress László
Fuits, 100% pressed fruit drinks
he farm of László Veress is one of the last remaining examples of an once widespread farming tradition, on the alluvial land between Kismaros and Nagymaros. The greatest assets of this area are the long-forgotten special fruit varieties thought to be extinct, and the 80-100-year-old specimens yielding fruit to this day.
He cultivates pest-resistant apple and pear varieties which adapt to local features on 1 hectare in a chemicals-free environment. The orchard is part of the gene conservation programme aiming to support the survival and propagation of alluvial fruit-tree varieties.
After harvest László selects the produce carefully. The best quality apples are sold on location, or 100% apple juice is made with a pasteurization process. Remaining fruit of inferior quality is recycled and in line with sustainable farming returned to the soil as compost.
