Sántha Péter és József
Buffallo and grey cattle products
Péter Sántha has native animals, buffalo and Hungarian grey cattle, and also goats, all of which he keeps with livestock grazing in the open on organic territory of the alluvial area by the Ipoly river. The animals are resistant to the winter cold and can get through the winter with some large-bale fodder. They are also resistant to dry spells also, but enjoy water too.
The farm is on 16 hectares, part of which is dedicated to lucerne cultivation, a smaller portion is for orchards. Mainly meat products are made, but besides salami and sausage cheese is experimented with and the sortiment will have mozzerella added soon. Jams and syrups are produced from the fruit. The father, József also farms, so the family co-operates, helping each other on their farms.
Their products can be bought at the Nagymaros Farmers’ Market, and you can taste their buffalo salami in Házikó sandwiches.
