Gábor Bozó is one of the traditional csabai paprika organic farmers. After years of working in the light industry he returned to the farming tradition of his grandparents in 2006, his farm can be found near Békéscsaba. The farm is run by 3 members of the Bozó family, with additional support from seasonal workers. On about 2,000m2 Bozó tends to vegetables, a smaller part is concentrated on fruit production both using greenhouse and open-field plant production techniques; additionally, grain cereals and corn are grown on a 15-hectare field.
Besides paprika a number of vegetables can be found in his registered nursery, such as tomato, pepper, various onions, spinach, sorrell, various cabbages, mangold. The paprika used in the Házikó range of ingredients are szegedi paprika varieties. Following traditional technologies the paprika is processed by the family themselves: after much hand picking and core-removing – according to the weather – the paprika is dried in a drying machine or air-dried, then ground in a paprika-mill. Their paprika has helped a number of meat products finish in the top three places at gastro-festivals in the past few years.
The Bozó family sell their products at budapest-based farmers’ markets, and catering establishments, processing plants.
